Internationally renowned and trained artist Saskia Van Voorn lives and works in Le Bons Bay. We are so lucky to be able to offer her Woodcut Printmaking workshop for the community right here in Akaroa.
Favouring the natural environment, Saskia specialises in woodblock printing using a technique inspired by the 18th and 19th century woodcut of Japan. Ukiyo-e (pictures of the floating world). Learn her technique of making detailed drawing, then using multiple woodblocks, add the skills of how to use gradation of colours to achieve depth and subtlety to make your print.
All skill levels are welcome to come to our second printing workshop, with a strictly limited number of students. Beginners and more experienced artists are most welcome. Saskia will work the room to give everyone one on one tuition.
Due to a fantastic response to Saskia Van Voorn’s woodcut printing course in 2020, how could we not have another – this time 4 days so you can fit more in !
Learn from a master tutor over 3 consecutive sessions. Be quick !
