Kura Raranga with Ngaio Tuari – Weaving School 2025

6,13,20,27 September and 4-5 October 2025

from 10am to 4pm each day

$150 for the course, $30 per casual class.

Once again, we’re very lucky to be able to offer this
amazing workshop.

Our wonderful tutor Ngaio Tuari, our kaiwhatu/weaver,
guides us through the traditional and spiritual methods of
gathering the harakeke/flax, preparing it for weaving, dyeing
and working into kete/baskets and other useful or just plain beautiful
Mäori traditional objects.
Who needs plastic bags when you can take
a kete shopping! Any skill level is welcome, come and learn
how to start or work with others to hone your craft and learn
something new. We love this course!

The final two days of the course will be spent as guests
of Onuku Marae. We’re having a noho – an optional
sleepover to make the most of this very special immersive
opportunity!
We thank the COGS Christchurch City / Banks Peninsula
committee for granting ACAC funding that enables us to
offer this course to you for a hugely discounted fee.
Come for individual classes or the whole course – whatever suits you.
