ACAC is excited to bring our new exhibition in 2023 to Akaroa following on from the success of our exhibitions in 2022.
Historically High Days were religious holidays, there were no other types. Particular foods were served at each different one..Maundy Tuesday. Easter. Christmas. Lent. Harvest Festival.etc: Each also had its own type of decorations. Dress and music and art.
There are obviously many other countries and religions with their own High Days. And Traditions that go with these.
Usually they were family and/or community gatherings rather than just a two week trip away.
Happiness. Celebration. Holiday days. Family. Local community; anything that goes with your chosen High Day.
Submissions of interest are now being called for – so if you are a Banks Peninsula artist, we’d be delighted to hear from you.
All ages and all media from painters to sculptors, poets to composers.
High Days will be on show at our usual art space in Akaroa – 65 Rue Lavaud (that also houses the Akaroa Butchery and Toy Library).
The exhibition will run across four weekends in November to December 2023, starting on Friday morning 17 November.
Come along and show your work!
